OBITUARY:
MRS. MAHALA E. JOHNSON BEARDIN CATRON
Mrs. Mahala E. Johnson, Beardin, Catron was born August 11, 1868 in Hamilton County, Ill., daughter of Acle and Tabatha Johnson. She departed this life Sept. 24, 1949, at the age of 81 years, 1 month, and 13 days. She was married Oct. 8, 1887 in Jefferson County to Robert Lee Beardin. To this union was born 7 children: John Beardin, Mrs. Lula Catron, Mrs. Sadie Catron, and Mrs. Leona McCallum. Two children preceded her in death, John and Leona. Her husband, Robert Lee Beardin, preceded her in death on August 25, 1899.
On May 20, 1901, she was married to Alexander Catron. To this union one child was born, Elmer Catron of Lincoln, Ill. Her late husband, Mr. Alexander Catron, preceded her in death May 20, 1929.
She leaves sex step children; Mrs. Lou Stephens of Keenes, Mrs. Stella Rulevish of Mr. Vernon, Cecil Green of Mt. Carme, Grover, Willie, and Ernest Catron of Wayne City. She also leaves to mourn their loss on sister, Mrs. Caroline Catron of Wayne City; three brothers Walter Johnson of Piercy, Ark., Ben Johnson of Mt. Vernon, Ill., and R.I. Johnson of Erick, Okla.; 27 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, and a host of relatives and friends.
She was converted early in life and lived a faithful christian life to the end. She was a wonderful and kind neighbor and loving mother.
We have lost out dear sweet mother. She no more on earth shall roam; and there will never be another who can take her place at home.
Mother's life was true and faithful and her heart was filled with love. Trusting Jesus as her savior, till she joined Him up above.
Some day we shall go to meet her where there will be no more goodbyes. I can think of nothing sweeter then our meeting in the skies.
