Learned Cottrell - PLAINVILLE - Learned "Mort" Cottrell, 87, of Bristol, longtime resident of Neal Court, Plainville, passed away Saturday, Sept. 11, 1999. Husband of the late Alberta (Johnson) Cottrell, he was born in New Britain July 3, 1912, the son of Carroll T. and Anna Maria (Huber) Cottrell. Mort was employed for 34 years by Marlin Rockwell TRW. He was a life member of the Church of Our Savior and belonged to the Knights of Pythias for over 50 years. He was also a member of the Episcopal Brotherhood of St. Andrew and the Bristol Senior Center.
He is survivied by his son and daughter-in-law Thomas E. and Gale A. Cottrell of Orchard Park, N.Y; a son-in-law, Raymond A. Mitchell of South Glastonbury, his sister, Eleanor C. Sheloski of Vermont; a cousin, William Milish of Bristol; three grandchildren; R. Todd Mitchell, Heather Marie (Stephen) Thayer and Melissa May Cottrell, a great-granddaughter, Camryn Nicole Thayer; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daugher, Eleanor Mitchell and two granddaughters.
A memorial service will be held at Church of Our Savior, Plainville, at a later date. Bailey Funeral Home, 48 Broad St., is in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to Church of Our Savior, 115 West Main St., Plainville, CT 06062.
