The funeral for Abram Thomas Smoke, 62, Cook road, the Schnail, St. Regis Indian reservation, who was found dead near his home Monday morning, was held Wednesday morning at St. Regis church, St. Regis, Que., with the Rev. George Brodeur officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Mr. Smoke had been employed for the past two months at the Smythe farm, Drum st, Fort Covington, and had left there shortly after noon Sunday after completing the chores. He was apparently in his usual health. The body was discovered by Harriet Gray, 13, who lives near by. Mr. Smoke had been dead only a short time. Death is believed to have been caused by a heart attack. Prior to the funeral his body was in repose at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Christie Mitchell of the Schnail Besides Mrs. Mitchell, he is survived by, four sons, Joseph, Henry, Alex and Louis Smoke, all of the Schnail; one other daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Hosantlut of Syracuse; a brother, John Smoke of Hogansburg, and a sister, Mrs. Mary White of Ogdensburg. He was born at Hogansburg on June 22, 1896, and lived all of his life in that community, where he was a farm laborer. His wife, the former Margaret Adams, died some time ago
