"Fr. McDuffie was born October 22, 1929 in Brownfield, Texas to W. Richard and Maurine McDuffie. He graduated from the University of Texas with a BA in Political Science and Psychology and received a Master's degree in Educational Psychology at West Texas State College in Canyon, Texas. After teaching school for two years, he then attended The Seminary of the Southwest in Austin, Texas where he received his Master of Divinity Degree. He was ordained to the Priesthood on December 16, 1960 at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Coleman Texas. On February 1, 1964 he married Nancy Kennedy at St. Mark's and together they began an adventurous life while he served as a parish priest and teacher at mission churches in Coleman, Baird, and Albany Texas, later becoming rector of Grace Church, Alvin, Texas for 2 years. He served as Associate and then Head Master at the Canterbury School in Accokeek, Maryland for ten years. He accepted a call to become an associate priest at Christ Church, Lexington, Kentucky when his close friend from seminary, The Rev. Hal Daniell was called as rector. Father McDuffie served Christ Church after it became the Cathedral of the Diocese of Lexington, Kentucky. He served there full time for 20 years and then retired in 1997 and continued to teach, marry and bury parishioners. He was active in Cursillo and continued with his reunion group until he left Lexington last year. He led an active life and enjoyed his hobbies as a bee keeper, sailing boats, raising Bonsai plants and playing his guitar and dulcimer.

"Survivors include his wife, Nancy of Ft. Collins, son William Robert (Joy) McDuffie of Ooltewah, Tennessee and daughter Kathleen (R. J.) Morris of Ft. Collins and five grandchildren.

"He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Christine Patterson.

"A memorial service is planned for early June, 2013 at Christ Church Cathedral in Lexington, Kentucky. Memorial contributions may be made to a homeless shelter or food bank of your choosing."
