Nathan & Mandy (Montgomery) Watts were Roger Southern’s great Uncle and Aunt. Roger provided the following information about their family.

Mandy was daughter of William Walter & Carrie Matilda "Tilda" (McCombs) Montgomery.

William was 26 years old when he married 23 year old Mrs. Carrie Matilda McCombs in Prairie Grove, Washington County, Arkansas on March 5, 1900. This was the second marriage for both. The marriage license stated they lived in Prairie Grove.

They were in Crawford County, Arkansas for the 1900 Census & in Haskell County, Oklahoma for the 1910 Census. Haskell County borders Le Flore County and Le Flore County borders Latimer County in Oklahoma.

William was born 1873/1874 in Mississippi & Carrie was born in Tennessee 1876/1877. Both are buried at Walls Cemetery, Le Flore County, Oklahoma. Their tomb stones have no dates. They were both living in 1940. They also have a son James "Jim" Link Montgomery & James wife Vera Battles buried at Walls Cemetery.

Mandy May/Mae Montgomery, age 15, married Nathaniel Asberry Watts age 20 in Calhoun, Le Flore County, Oklahoma on March 24, 1923. They were married by Rufus K. Wilson (Rufus King Wilson).

A. J. Watts gave his consent for the marriage (Andrew "Andy" Jackson Watts). Frank Harris was a Witness. Andy is buried at the Dog Creek Cemetery.

Nathan & Mandy had the following children; Addie Vernice, Lillian Beatrice, Jack D "JD", Ivan Nathan & Dorothy Jean.

Nathan's parents were Andrew "Andy" Jackson Watts & Christian Tina "Tiny" Wilson. They were married on July 22, 1897 in Fanshawne, Choctaw Nation, Indian Territory which now in Le Flore County, Oklahoma. Nathan was 24 & Christian Tina was 33. She married under the name of Mrs. Tinnie Evans. She had at least 4 given names.

Her first husband was Christopher Columbus Evans and together they had 3 daughters & 1 son that lived. Tina & Christopher are buried in the Hicks Chapel Cemetery, Le Flore County, Oklahoma.

Tina and Nathan Watts had only daughter and this daughter is buried with her.

Nathan Watts had the following brothers; Richard "Rich" Watts, Elmer Watts, and Walter Andrew Watts.

Mandy Montgomery's oldest brother Marvin William Montgomery married Basheely Stroud in Le Flore County, Oklahoma on Aug 18, 1921. Basheely was the daughter of William "Bill" & Matilda "Tilda" (Wilson) Stroud. Matilda Wilson was the sister of Christina Tina Wilson Evans Watts. Matilda out lived 3 husbands. Basheely was born in 1904 as died in 1924. Basheely (name on tombstone is “Basha”) is buried at Dog Creek Cemetery, Le Flore County, Oklahoma.

Marvin & Basheely Montgomery had 2 sons; Francis & William "Bill" Montgomery. William was born Feb 21, 1925, I knew him. I knew Basha's brother. I believe Brasha died 1925. These 2 boys were raised by Mandy's parents.

Marvin W. Montgomery married again on June 9, 1925 to Susan "Susie" Tyler in Le Flore County, Oklahoma. Marvin & Susan are buried at the Red Oak Cemetery, Latimer County, Oklahoma. They had 1 daughter, Ella Marie, who married my first cousin.

Mandy (Montgomery) Watts had 2 youngest sisters, Dora & Bertha. These sisters married Wilson brothers. They are buried Red Oak Cemetery, Latimer County Oklahoma. These Wilson boy’s parents were Everett Stornes Wilson & Cora Bertie Christopher. Everett & Cora were married in Walls, Indian Territory of Oklahoma, on July 13, 1902. They are buried in the Red Oak Cemetery Latimer County, Oklahoma.

Everett S. Wilson was youngest brother of Christina Tina & Matilda "Tilda” Wilson. Matilda Wilson Brown Stroud Cagle is buried in the Dog Creek Cemetery Le Flore County Oklahoma. According to old cemetery records Matilda’s death is listed as July 21, 1931; however, she died on July 21, 1930.

Matilda's sister Martha Caroline Wilson was married to Loyd Henry Cagle. She died June 4, 1910, in Le Flore County, Oklahoma, and is buried in the Hicks Chapel Cemetery. Matilda married Loyd Cagle in Le Flore County, Oklahoma on Dec 20, 1910. Loyd is buried in the Dog Creek Cemetery.
