Services for Barron D. Graves, 85, of Slaton will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Slaton with the Rev. Cleve Kerby officiating.

Burial will be in Englewood Cemetery under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service.

He died Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002.

He was born Dec. 27, 1916, in Jewett. He attended school in Johnson and moved with his family to Runnels County in 1934. He married Myrlee Gallant on Sept. 16, 1937 in Winters.

During World War II they lived in California where he worked in the shipyards before going into the sand and gravel business. They moved to Borden County, where he ranched. They moved to Slaton from Enoch in 1970. He retired in 1996.

He was a member of First Baptist Church in Slaton and attended the men's Sunday school class.

His survivors include his wife; two sons, Garland and Jerry, both of Slaton; a brother, Joe E. of Lubbock; a sister, Velma Lloyd of Big Spring; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to First Baptist Church of Slaton or Meals on Wheels, 230 W. Lynn, Slaton, TX 79364.
