Ethel Howard Bradner Burbank was one of five children born to Frank Emile Bradner and his first wife Olivia Albertina Farnsley. Ethel was employed as a librarian prior to her marriage and having children.

Ethel was united in marriage on April 26, 1905 in Manhattan, New York to David Redman Burbank, Sr. Ethel and David, Sr. were blessed with the birth of three sons during their 29 year marriage:

David Redman Burbank, Jr.
Edmund (Ted) Gibson Burbank
John Howard Burbank, MD.

Ethel passed away at the young age of 88 years old on Christmas Day 1967. She was a life-long resident of New Jersey. Ethel was known as "Gaya" to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
