She married Don Anson on April 30, 1954 in Elgin, Oregon and they moved to Forest Grove where they both started their teaching careers. They taught in Forest Grove for 25 years, Phyllis having taught at Joseph Gale Elementary School and later Dilley Elementary School. From 1969 to 1976 they left Forest Grove and taught at Kwajalein M.I. and then returned to FG to finish their teaching careers.
Phyllis was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family was foremost in her life. She loved to travel as she and Don went on 25 cruises and visited 6 continents just missing Antarctica which they planned to visit when she was diagnosed with PSP which ended their long travels.
She loved to sew and made over 1, 500 children quilts for the Bethany Center for their charity. She was an avid "junker" or better known as garage sales. She loved to read and play cards and belonged to several card clubs. Bridge was her favorite which she at one time had earned some master points.
She is survived by her husband, Don of Forest Grove, her three children, Dale Anson and his fiancee', Lisa Derry, of Boise, ID; Kay Clayton, of Aloha, OR and Kelly Anson and his wife, Eric, of Vancouver, Washington. 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Her sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and John Williford, of Richland, WA. She has been preceded by her mother and father.
