John J. Barry, 71, of Brewerton, NY, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2013 at his home. He was born in Binghamton, NY and had lived in Syracuse most of his life. In 1960, he graduated from Valley Academy, and then joined the U.S. Navy where he was stationed in Key West, FL. He retired from New Process Gear Division of Chrysler Corp. in 1991 where he worked on the assembly line for 35 years. He was a member of the UAW Local 624. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, boating, golfing and spending time with his family. He was predeceased by his sister, Margaret Kozlowski. Survivors: his wife of 47 years the former Joyce Stamm; one son, John Barry, Jr. of Clay; two daughters, Susan (Shawn) Sprague of Clay, Deborah (Burke) Smith of Romeo, Michigan; three sisters, Caroline Hayduk of Arizona, Nancy Smith of Nedrow and Rosalie Buffaloe; eight grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday 9:30 a.m. from the Macko-Vassallo Funeral Home and 10 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church. He will be laid to rest in the St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home, 1609 W. Genesee St. The Panakhyda Service will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
