On pg 27, author Hazel Stroup tells us in Volume 8 at PLCHC that one Isaac Anderson d. 12 Oct 1862 at age 28 y 11 m 4 da. Was he a Civil War soldier?

Was he the right age and burial location to speculatively be a possible husband of Sarah Eliz. Gilliland? Findagraver lilbuddy of Illinois wrote and hopes that this Isaac is actually her husband, based on their proximity in ages. She writes: "Issac was born on November 8, 1833 [source: she writes that this was a backwards calculation using a date calculator] and was within 18 months of Sarah's birthdate. If he lost Sarah by death in 1857, perhaps he didn't remarry and went off to fight in the Civil War." There are many men by this name so proof of a marital relationship is needed; currently, even the question of which Isaac this one is remains suspect let alone who this one married or did not marry. The archived Gilchrist mss papers in Huntington WV (see Agnes Cilley entry) may hold the definitive answers, so please visit that repository and or hire a paid researcher there to review the original family papers, primary sources.

Notice the rusted metal supports holding the white tall stone together. The adjacent smaller but similar stone, also with rusted supports, I cannot read; hopefully someone from Ross Township remembers who this is.

In returning to author, Hazel Stroup's detailed Venice Cemetery listing for Andersons on Vol __, p27-28, I note that underneath this Isaac, is listed Sarah Elizabeth, wife of Isaac, daughter of A.B. Gilliland, died 9 Aug 1857 ae 26 yrs. After her is Clarissa, wife of Robert-- so perhaps a picture looking down the row from the rusting brackets will show this sequence (now posted so see pics not on main page). Once before on a different entry (Isaac Willis Anderson), I noted that Hazel seemed to list the wife of the Anderson men, below their spouse. Whether this clue will help researchers at Marshall Univ. to align the Andersons correctly is unknown. Information with sources is sought.
