Douglas Farrell Fotheringham

Douglas Farrell Fotheringham, a very devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2013 surrounded by loving family members at Woodland Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. Douglas (better known as Farrell) was born on April 17, 1932 in Milford, Utah, to Douglas and Laura Fotheringham. After graduating from Milford High School, Farrell attended BYU and then enlisted in the Air Force for a two-year stint. On Dec. 15, 1951 Farrell married his high school sweetheart Dorothy Fisher. From 1951 to 1963 Farrell worked as a surveyor for the state of Utah. In 1964 Farrell, Dorothy and their four children moved to Woodland where Farrell continued his career as surveyor for Laugenour and Meikle and Teichert Construction. In the mid-1970s Farrell joined the family business (Creative Stationery and Office Products) and retired along with Dorothy in 2000.
Farrell was very passionate about his hobbies of hunting, gardening, sports and working with the youth of Woodland. He coached Little League and Babe Ruth baseball teams for years, having the honor of coaching his own sons. Farrell founded the Winter League Baseball program in Woodland, providing a sporting alternative for many young athletes in Woodland for 20 years. He funded the program by selling 4' x 8' signs for advertisement to local businesses and he meticulously painted each sign himself. Farrell was recognized for his many contributions when he was inducted into the 11th Annual Woodland Hall of Fame on June 16, 1983 with a Community Service Award.
Farrell is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dorothy Fotheringham; sons Michael Fotheringham (Patricia), Chris Fotheringham (Brenda Gooch); daughters Patty (Fotheringham) and Tom Crumpacker Colleen (Fotheringham) and Mike Bellotti; grandchildren Megan Fotheringham, Eric Fotheringham, Lisa (Fotheringham) and David Long, Brooke Fotheringham, Brittney Crumpacker, Lee Crumpacker, Kaylie Crumpacker, Luke Bellotti, Keri Bellotti and Sean Bellotti; great-grandchildren Mason Long, Ellie Long and Cassidy Long; nephews Russell, Boyd, Ron, and Walter; nieces Sharon and Janet; brother-in-law Richard Fisher and wife Shirley. Farrell was preceded in death by his parents Douglas and Laura; parent-in-laws Vance and Luella Fisher; brother Wally; sisters Erma, Kathleen and Helen and grandson Christopher Crumpacker.
A viewing is scheduled for 10 a.m. with a chapel service following at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 26, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1405 Cottonwood St., Woodland, with Bishop James Ellis-Sherinian officiating. Burial will follow at Monument Hill Memorial Park, 35036 CR-22, Woodland. McNary's Funeral Chapel assisted the family with arrangements.
