Evelyn Jeanette Hoss - JOHNSON CITY

Evelyn Jeanette Hoss, age 75, of Johnson City went home to be with our Lord on Sunday, June 18, 2006 in the Asbury Place at Johnson City.

Mrs. Hoss was a native of Watauga County, N.C. and had lived most of her life in Johnson City. She was a daughter of the late Henry and Ency Dollar Baird. Mrs. Hoss retired in 1993 from the Kroger Company after working as a cashier, a dairy manager and throughout the store for thirty-five years. She was a member of the Skyline Heights Baptist Church serving as a Sunday School teacher, Secretary to her SS class and singing in the choir. She was a devoted wife, friend and neighbor. She was tireless in doing things for others and brought joy to every life she touched.

Mrs. Hoss is preceded in death by: her husband, James W. Jack Hoss in January of 2005; two sisters, Lillie Tester and Irene Meyer; two brothers, Dean Baird and Marvin Baird.

Survivors include several nieces, nephews and special friends.

A funeral service for Evelyn Jeanette Hoss will be conducted at 8 PM, Wednesday, June 21, 2006 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Rev. Kenneth Kyker and Rev. Donald Page will officiate. Music will be by Rev. Donald Page as soloist. The graveside service will be conducted at 10 AM Thursday in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Everyone will meet at Morris-Baker at 9:30 AM Thursday to go to the cemetery in procession.

Active pallbearers will be Richard Tester, Glen Tester, Curtis Turner, Doug Ranshaw, Bill Harvey, Ed Donaldson and Jim McCurry. Honorary pallbearers will be Cecil Scalf and Ed Sprinkle. The family will receive friends in the funeral chapel from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday prior to the service. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be sent to the Skyline Heights Baptist Church, 1601 Skyline Drive, Johnson City, TN 37601.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the wonderful staff at Asbury Place at Johnson City for their kindness and care of Mrs. Hoss.
