Born in Lancaster, he was the son of Eugene C. and Mary E. (Zimmerman) Darrenkamp of Lancaster.
Ed was employed for over 30 years as a meat cutter for Darrenkamp Markets.
He was a member of the 8th Ward Club and the Pequea Valley Sportsman's Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working outdoors, and riding his motorcycle. After he became ill, he took up as a hobby ceramics, and won several county fair awards for his pieces.
Ed was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Lancaster.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a son, Justin R. Darrenkamp of Columbia and his fiancé Britny Schneider; a sister, Teresa M. Thompson (Jerry) of Leola; two brothers: Albert C. Darrenkamp (Elice) of Lancaster and John M. Darrenkamp and his girlfriend Tina Campbell of New Providence; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM Friday, May 17, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 440 St. Joseph St., Lancaster, PA 17603, with Msgr. Thomas H. Smith as Celebrant. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Thursday, May 16, at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 414 E. King St., Lancaster, with a Christian Prayer Service at 7:30, and again at the church on Friday, one hour prior to the start of the service. Burial will be in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery.
