Civil War Union Soldier. He was enrolled in the 28th New Jersey Volunteer Infantry on September 1, 1862, and was mustered in as a Private in Company H on September 22, 1862. He served through the December 1862 Fredericksburg Campaign, and the was discharged due to disability at the regiment's Camp near Falmouth, Virginia on April 9, 1863.

He passed away at age 85.
