He was born January 30, 1931 in Mountainburg to Manual and Ida Mae Peters.
He was an avid sportsman, and a master carpenter. He built everything from post offices, car washes, public schools, banks, federal housing projects, and custom homes. When he was an employee of the City of Alma, his handiwork can be seen in the bridge, the playground equipment, and the hiking trails in the Alma City Park. He could fix everything from a hairdryer to a weedeater. He was the most ingenious small engine repairman. He would lay in bed at night thinking about a problem and arise in the morning to fix it.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Peters.
He is survived by two daughters, Twana Alghojeh and husband Asghar of Oklahoma City, and Joyce Baugh and husband Russell of Katy, TX; four sons, Larry Peters and wife Peggy of Lavaca, Tony Peters and wife Athena of Alma, Van Peters and wife Nanette of Van Buren, and Mikel Peters and wife Charla of Van Buren; seventeen grandchildren, and twenty-two great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Chapel in Van Buren, with interment to follow at Cain Cemetery near Mountainburg, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers will be Tyler Peters, Jon Baugh, Jackie Peters, Richard Peters, Ronnie Peters, and Frank Parker. Honorary pallbearers will be John, Cody, Shane, Nathan, and Kyle Peters, Jeff Hill, Sean Hill, Jackie Meadors, and Adam Daniels.
The family will visit with friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren, AR.
