Ex-Hillsboro Officer Dies

Cornelius Blaser, 81, one-time Hillsboro chief of police, died suddenly Friday afternoon at Tidewater, in Lincoln county, where he had made his home for the past seven years with his daughter.
Mr. Blaser was a native of Waynesburg (sic), Ohio, born on October 7, 1856, coming to Oregon as a young man, he settled in Hillsboro, where he operated a saloon for many years. For a number of years afterwards he served as chief of police here. His wife Martha J. Blaser, died in December, 1929, Mr. Blaser retired in 1931.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Donelson & Sewell chapel with Rev. H.A. Deck officiating. Burial was in Hillsboro cemetery. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Ila Lovina Everest of Tidewater and Mrs. Carrie May Spreadborough , Portland.
Rev. Henry S. Haller of Pilgrim House officiated at the funeral services. Also surviving are three grandchildren, William Spreadborough, Bertha Spreadborough, Mrs. Harry Taylor and one great-granddaughter Elaine Taylor. (note: writer forgot to mention Kenneth Taylor)
