Waseca, R.3, Fred D. Scholljegerdes, 79, passed away Thusday morning at his farm home. He had been in failing health since January, 1969.

He was born on January 8, 1890, in Waseca to Mr. and Mrs. George Sr. and Caroline (Proechel) Scholljegerdes. He attended rural schools in Waseca. He was a farmer in Waseca since 1914 and retired last year. He had a turkey hatchery from 1938 to 1947. He was also a dairy farmer and raised Holstein cattle.

He had special registered Holstein Fresien cattle from 1920-1940. He was president of the Waseca Co-op Creamery Association from 1924 to 1935, Director of the Waseca County Farm Loan Association in 1929, Secretary of the County Farm Bureau from 1920-1925, township chairman of the ARC in 1956-1957, member of the Toastmasters International, Masons, high priest chapter in 1956, member of the Comdry of the Zurah Temple Shrine, and received the Skelly Oil National Farm Management Award in 1951. He was deacon of the Lutheran church.

He was building committee chairman at St. John Lutheran church, chairman of the Central Co-op of Owatonna for many years and past president of the Waseca Exchange club.

On December 29, 1915, he married Hattie Mary Miller of Northfield. She passed away in 1954.

He is survived by three daughters and three grandchildren. He is also survived by the following brothers and sisters: Art and Walter, both of Waseca, Mrs. Clarence (Velma) Priem of near Faribault, Mrs. Alvin (Leona) Helms, Waseca, Dr. Lillian Davies of Normal, Ill., and Mrs. Alfred (Lucille) Proechel of rural Waseca.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at two o'clock at the St. John Lutheran church. Rev. Arnold Edwards officiated and burial is in Woodville cemetery.

Casketbearers were Orville Proechel, Lavern Scholljegerdes, Milan Prechel, Donald Lewer, Kenneth Miller and Paul Day, Jr. of Faribault.

Honorary casket bearers were Cletus Murphy, Paul Stucky, Dr. Wesley Rethwill, Sr., Dr. Orvie Swenson, Fred Halstead, Ervin Hecht, Gordon Hanson, Owatonna and Andy Phelps.
