EUREKA -- Carl W. Schieber, 98, of 514 W. Cruger St., Eureka, died at 12:15 a.m. Wednesday (May 25, 2005) at the Eureka Apostolic Christian Nursing Home.

His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Congerville Apostolic Christian Church. Church ministers will officiate.

Burial will be in Congerville Goodfield Apostolic Christian Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Argo-Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home, Eureka, and for one hour prior to the service Friday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Congerville Apostolic Christian Church.

Mr. Schieber was born July 14, 1906, at Congerville, a son of John and Lena Engle Schieber. He married Lorene Romersberger on Jan. 11, 1931, in Congerville. She died March 26, 1976. He then married Mildred Traub on Dec. 3, 1978, in Forrest. She survives.

Other survivors include four sons, John (Alice) Schieber, Normal; Thomas (Bonnie) Schieber, Danvers; Gerald (Joan) Schieber, Brooklyn, N.Y.; and Ronald (Deanelle) Schieber, Carlock; one daughter, Phyllis Schieber, Dallas; one stepson, James (Linda) Traub, Monticello; two sisters, Emma Schieber and Esther Troike, both of Eureka; one brother, Harvey Schieber, Congerville; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Victor and Harold, and one great-grandson, Brandon.

Carl was a member of the Congerville Apostolic Christian Church. He retired in 1967 from Standard Oil Company after 35 years of service.
