As a young man George came to Minnesota.
On October 20, 1923, he was united in marriage to Emma Carsten in Union City, Tennessee. for all of their working lives, they farmed in Cottonwood and Jackson Counties. To this family, two daughters were born, Gladys and Irene. Living on various farm sites allowed George and Emma to gain many friends over the years
In 1966, Emma passed away, which was the year that they also retired from farming. George lived thereafter in several different locations. He especially enjoyed traveling and being able to drive about in the area. As a loving family man. George took pride in his family and lived to see it grow to many grandchildren and great grandchildren
For the last year, George has been making his home in Riverview Apartments
He died on Wednesday morning, May 1st at the Windom Area Hospital. He came to leive to the age of 93, 2 months and 29 days.
He is survived by tow daughters, Gladys Riordan of Windom, Irene and her husband Elwood Elg of Comfrey; 6 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, 1 brother in law, Jack Carsten; 2 sisters in law Norma Kruse and Magdalene Garland and several nieces and nephews
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Emma, 1 son in law, 1 great grandson, 8 brothers and 6 sisters
