William and Ann Houston Barnes are buried 1/4 mile SE of Mitchell cemetery. There graves and 2 of their unknown Grandchildren are surrounded by a concrete curbing placed in the 1930's, by one of their Zimmerman grandchild. On the land owned by their son in law John Mitchell, pioneer of Coles county arriving in 1828. Family story states they were taking her to be buried at the wagon was stuck in the mud and they ended up burying her where it was stuck.
