Duane A. Kjorsvik, age 65, resident of Michigan, ND, died Monday, April 15, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Center in Larimore, ND.

Duane Allen Kjorsvik was born December 3, 1947 in McVille, ND, the son of Lorentz and Selma (Northagen) Kjorsvik. He was raised on the family farm near Michigan, attended the Melrose Township School, and the Michigan Public School.

Duane was drafted into the U.S. Army and served from March 5, 1968 until March 4, 1970. He served his country in Vietnam and was awarded the Bronze Star medal. Following his honorable discharge from the Army, Duane worked in California for a short time.

He returned to Michigan and farmed with his father. He then began driving truck and operating farm equipment for several farmers in northeastern North Dakota. His hobbies included fishing and gardening, which he thoroughly enjoyed.

Duane is survived by his 5 siblings, Myron (Lynn) Kjorsvik of Hobart, Tasmania, Australia, David Kjorsvik of Devils Lake, ND, Sharilyn (Brian) Hendrickson of Adams, ND, Vance Kjorsvik of Wahpeton, ND, and Lorna (Glenn) Lindblad of Beulah, ND; a sister-in-law, Gloria Kjorsvik of Little Falls, MN; and several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, Lyle, Curtis, and Larry; a niece, Kerri Kjorsvik; and 2 sisters-in-law, Donna C. (Mrs. David) Kjorsvik and Donna J. (Mrs. Vance) Kjorsvik.

Duane's Funeral Service will be held at Michigan Lutheran Church, Michigan, ND, on Monday, April 22, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Officiating will be the Reverend Peter Horn and the organist will be Paula Narum.

Interment will be in the spring at Melrose Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Michigan.

The casketbearers will be Ethan Hendrickson, Rodney Jorde, Kevin Kjorsvik, Kendrick Kjorsvik, Kyle Kjorsvik, and Carl Hendrickson. The honorary bearers will be all of Duane's nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at the Aaker Funeral Home, Lakota, ND, on Sunday beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m.

Visitation will continue at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
