Isidro "El Wero" Alvarez, 69, of Amarillo died Thursday, May 9, 2013. LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Martin Road Chapel, 1505 Martin Road.

Funeral service will be 2pm Monday, May 13, 2013 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Home, Martin Road Chapel, 1501 Martin Road, Amarillo, Texas with Sherman Eastland, Chaplain of Odyssey Hospice officiating LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors of Amarillo is in charge of arrangements. The body will be available for viewing beginning at 11am Monday at the Martin Road Chapel.

Isidro was born on September 17, 1943 in Amarillo unto Leonard and Vivian Samora Alvarez. He was raised and educated in Amarillo and became a master bricklayer building many homes and businesses in the Amarillo and Austin area. He loved his family and was a man of few words and strong actions. He had an outgoing personality and was a jovial man. The family would like to thank the staff of the BSA MICU and BSA Hospice for the wonderful care they gave our Dad.

Preceded in death by his parents, a son, Isidro "Jr." Alvarez, his grandson Alexander Vasquez and a brother Leonard Alvarez, Jr. a sister Josy Alvarez.

Survivors include his fiancée Maria Terri Medina, his children Melinda Alvarez (Frank) of Phoenix, AZ., Nina Alvarez-Lopez (Albino) of Austin, TX., Vivian Bowron (Brandon) of Phoenix, AZ., Gilbert Alvarez (Myra) of Austin, TX., and Bianca Alvarez (Randall) of Austin, TX., eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. His brothers Tino Alvarez (Wanda) Alvino Alvarez (Marie) Frank Alvarez (Debbie) Danny Alvarez (Dina) and Ricky Alvarez (Michelle). His sisters, Anita Ruiz (Ray) Mary Castellanos (Jesse) Gloria Rosas (Billy) and Geneva Gonzalez (Antonio) along with numerous nieces and nephews.
