SHIMP -- Mrs. Sarah Jane Shimp, 96, of 766 Caviota Ave., died last night at her home. She was born in Fort Wayne, Ind., lived a for time in Boyden, Iowa, and came from there to Long Beach in 1920. She was a member of First Christian Church. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Minnie May Newton of Manton, Alberta, Canada; Christina Newendorf and Paul McCrum of Long Beach; sons, Amhurst B. Shimp and William E. Shimp of Hermosa Beach, and Calvin B. of Vulcan, Alberta, Canada; 23 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. Service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Hollon & Son with Reuben Luther Anderson of First Christian Church officiating. Entombment will be in Sunnyside Mausoleum.

She was a member of First Christian Church, and a local resident since 1920.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Minnie May Newton of Manton, Canada, Mrs. Christina Newendorf and Mrs. Paul McCrum of Long Beach; sons, Amhurst B. and William E. of Hermosa Beach, and Calvin D. of Canada; 23 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great-grandchildren. Reuben Luther Anderson will officiate. Entombment will be in Sunnyside Mausoleum.
