John W. Oppold, age 74, of Sioux Falls, SD, passed away Saturday, May 4, 2013, at Sanford, with his family at his side.
Funeral Services will be at 10:30 am Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at Holy Spirit Parish, 3601 East Dudley Lane, Sioux Falls, SD 57103.
John William Oppold was born on September 11, 1938, in Sioux Falls, SD, to William and Margaret (Rader) Oppold. John received his education in the Harrisburg School System. Even as a young man, John enjoyed working with the earth, gardening, and flowers (especially his amazing roses) which he loved to share with his relatives. His creativity was expressed through landscaping and painting.
John was also able to refinish furniture, and start his gardens from seed. He enjoyed going on cruises and travelling to new places, like Alaska and the St. Thomas Islands. John liked to play cards with his many friends, or just talk and visit for hours. John also loved spending time with his dogs, Rex, Ruggles, and Penny.
Those left to cherish John's memory include: his sister, Margaret Albers of Sioux Falls; and many, many, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
John is preceded in death by: his parents, William and Margaret; and sisters, Anna Mae Wolf and Ardis Oppold
