Charles Kenneth (Ken) Holland age 82 Joplin, passed away Saturday May 4, 2013 at Freeman West Hospital after an illness. Ken was born September 16, 1930 in Rogersville, Mo. son of the late Charlie Holland and Georgia Brown Holland and had lived many places and for the past several years has been in the Carthage and Joplin area.

Ken served in the US Army for six years and retired from the US Air Force with 15 yrs. service. He worked for the US Postal Service and retired with 19 years of service. He was an active member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Joplin where formerly served as an Elder.

He married Mildred Szydloski on January 1, 1952 in Huntsville, Arkansas. She preceded him in death on November 8, 2002. He married Eula Fritts on June 15, 2005 in Joplin. She preceded him in death on November 28, 2007.

Survivors include one son: Chuck Holland and his wife Sharon of Webb City; two daughters: Sandy Ballard and her husband Steve of Fordland, Mo. and Michelle Everett and her husband Greg of Carterville, Mo.; two stepsons Gary Fritts and his wife Donna of Clever, Mo and Doug Fritts and his wife Linda of Joplin.; two brothers: Bill Holland and his wife Jan of Kansas City, Kansas and Don Holland and his wife Carolyn of Carthage; one sister: Mary Bull of Carthage; three grandsons: Clint Holland and his wife Misty, Damian Ballard and his fiancé Tina Prill and Cody Holland and his fiancé Taylor Davis; one granddaughter: Jacey Downey and her husband Jesse; step grandchildren: Lance Ballard and his wife Michele, Ryan Ballard and his wife Amy, Josh Bergmann, Erica Wright and her husband Mark, Darin Stratton, Grant Fritts and his wife Heather, Dustin Fritts and his wife Robin and Jason Fritts; great grandsons: Crew Holland and Caden Downey; step great grandchildren: Alexa Bergmann, Trevor Ballard, Chris Erwin, Dustin Horton, Tyler Ballard, Anne Marie Wright, Gavin Fritts, Grady Fritts, Ashton Fritts, Ashlyn Fritts, Payton, Skyler and Tearsin Stratton. In addition to his parents and wives, Ken was preceded in death by one brother and sister at birth; a sister Dorothy Willis in Aug of 2007; granddaughter Brittney Holley, June 29, 1978, a step great grandson Preston Ballard, January 26, 2013 a daughter-in-law Diana Holland, November 10, 2008 and a host of extended family and friends.

Services for Ken will be 11am Thursday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Joplin with Pastor Gregory Mech officiating. Interment with Military Rites will be 3pm Thursday at the Holland Cemetery near Rogersville, Mo. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8pm Wednesday at Parker Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Church.
