From his Obituary:

Seldom, if ever, has the community been more bereaved than it seems to be over the death of Mr. J. Henderson Boone, which occurred at his residence near Monroe Draft in Irish Corner on 16th of March 1881.

Mr. B. was born and raised in this county, and his survivors can truly say he was an honest, upright man. One who was always ready to sympathize with his neighbors when afflicted, visiting the sick, helping to bury the dead, and many other traits of character which no one knows except those who were acquainted with him. He was a robust man, but disease began to prey upon his physical frame last fall, and for about four months he was a great sufferer until death released him in the 51st year of his age. His bereaved widow and children have the sympathy of the entire community and the prayers of God's people. "Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord."
