Eloise "Cota" or "Coty" Campos of Austin died Saturday, October 31, 1998.

She was born January 26, 1927, and attended San Diego High School in San Diego, Texas, where she was a Drum Majorette.

During World War II she worked in the U.S. Dept. of Censorship in San Antonio, Texas, and married her high school boyfriend, having been married 53 years to radio personality and community leader, Lalo Campos.

She came to Austin in 1946 so that her husband could go to the University of Texas. She also attended U.T., St. Edwards University, and received a Masters Degree from Antioch College.

She worked for the Police Department, was a case worker for Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Austin and was promoted to Natiional Field Representative for Big Brothers, Big Sisters International. She left to open her own Group Home for the Boys and Girls which she named, " Better Roads".

She was honored as extraordinary friend to fatherless boys & single parents girls by BB/BS. She received numerous awards of merit, appreciation, recognition, special friend, nobility by BB/BS.

Her other accomplishments were, Senior Girl Scouts, UIL Declaiming Champion in San Diego, Texas Ambassador of Goodwill, Child care administrator, Outstanding Woman-Mexican American Business & Professional Woman of Austin, Certificate of Merit USA Office of Censorship, and Professional Member of American Correctional Association, University Area Ki-anns Club, Community Board for the City of Austin, delegate to the Jimmy Carter National Convention, YMCA, local parent groups, Founded Operation Education, and won the 1994 Life-time Achievement Award-Mexican American Business and Professional Women's Association.

Survivors include her husband, Lalo Campos; Son, Hector Rene Campos and his wife Phyllis (Born July 16, 1946 in Jim Wells Co.,Tx), Daughter, Belinda Campos Calhoun and her husband Jay, all from Austin; Daughter, Rosaria Yvonne Campos of Pittsburgh, PA (Born March 5, 1948 in Jim Wells Co,Tx).

Also surviving are her nine grandchildren, Minette Campos, Yvette Campos, Eva Rebek, Ana Rebek, Blake Bearden, Kori Bearden, Alexandra Campos, and twins, Cody and Casey Campos; her sister, Margaret Rangel, of San Diego, Texas.

She touched the life of hundreds of young people and had a very positive effect on all of them. Her Credo was, "All Children are good, you just have to know how to work with them and love them."
