At Rest -- Collinsworth

John T. Collinsworth was born in Lee county, Va., February 19th, 1860, the son of Jacob B Collinsworth and Rachel Pennington. He died at his home three miles east of Ravenwood, Mo., August 1st, 1913, aged 53 years, 5 months and 12 days. He came to Missouri in 1880, and settled in Nodaway county.

On February 2, 1892, he was united in marriage to Miss Leona J. Stingley, of this county. To them were born three sons and one daughter: Merlin, Lavelle, Elda and Alpha, all of which with the mother survive him. The first three years of his married life was spent in Worth county, after which he returned to Nodaway county. In 1899 he moved to Darlington, MO., where he resided for 2 years, and from there he moved to Harrison county, and spent one year, thence back to Nodaway county, where he has since resided.

He was a member of Ravenwood Lodge, No. 201, A.F.& A.M. On the 20th of March 1912, he made profession of religion and with his wife received Christian baptism in their home and were received into the Methodist church at this place, by the pastor.

There is left to mourn in addition to the sorrowing wife and children, his mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Yeary of Ravenwood, and one sister, Miss Jane Collinsworth. His sickness was of long duration and his sufferings at times intense, yet in all he was a patient sufferer, and was resigned to the will of God. Death had for him no terrors and for its approach he calmly waited.

The funeral services were held at the Methodist church, Saturday afternoon, August 2nd, at 2:30 o'clock conducted by the pastor, Rev. S.E. Hoover. The Masonic fraternity acted as escort. The pall bearers were Geo. DeShazer, Marion Weir, Wm. Rhodes, Roy Jackson, E.L. Houchens and C.R. DeLong. The services were largely attended at the grave in Oak Lawn cemetery, the beautiful and impressive burial service of the Masons order was used with D.D.G.M. Joseph Reece in charge, after which the body was lowered to its last resting place.
