DWIGHT - Dorothy Dixon McDevitt, 84, of 109 John St., Dwight died at 3 a.m. Thursday (Feb. 14, 2002) at Heritage Manor, Dwight.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Dwight, Father James Rickey officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Dwight. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Hager Memorial Home, Dwight.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Mrs. McDevitt was born May 15, 1917, in Decatur, a daughter of Herschel and Laura Hughes Dixon. She married James McDevitt on Aug. 11, 1940, in Urbana. He survives.
Survivors include two sons, William (Merripat) McDevitt, Eureka, Mo.; and David (Jan) McDevitt, Greenwood, Ind.; and one sister, Eleanor Brady, Petersburg.
Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Kelly Robbins; Patty Montgomery; Molly Ann Nisbet; and William II, Maggie, Joseph, Megan, Molly and Macy McDevitt; and two great-grandchildren, Audrey and Stuart Montgomery.
One son, James Michael McDevitt, and one brother, Dale Dixon, preceded her in death.
Mrs. McDevitt was a retired secretary of P.L. Murphy Pipe Line Co. and Dwight Star & Herald.
She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Dwight; St. Patrick's Altar and Rosary Society; Boy Scout Den Mother; secretary for St. Patrick's Church; president of St. Patrick's Catholic Daughters; charter member of Dwight Senior Citizens Club; and former president of the Arcadia Florida Tourist Club. She was a graduate of Stephen Decatur High School and attended Millikin University for one year.
