Roy served in the U.S. Army in World War II, serving in France and Germany. Roy married Edna Lee Upton in Little Rock, Ark. After serving in the military, they moved to Idaho to raise a family. Roy was a mechanic most all his working days. His marriage to Edna ended in divorce. They had five children: John, Mike, Ed, Doug and Donna Jo.
Roy later married Rae Murphy and gained three lovely stepdaughters: Audrey, Barbara and Jan. Rae passed away in 2001.
Roy later married Devota Pfefferkorn of Kooskia, and gained four stepchildren: Elvin, Peggy, Verle and Leah.
Roy especially enjoyed all types of music, but mostly that played by his talented three sons and his daughter. Roy especially loved gardening, hunting elk and being out in the woods with his sons. Roy loved people, including all his grandkids. He loved to visit with anyone.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, James and Elma; two brothers Ben and Elmer; and three sisters, Mable, Vera, and Dorothy.
Interment was at Pine Grove Cemetery in Kooskia.
