Minnie (Gussie) Augusta Andrews was the three child born to William Otto Andrews and Susie May Helton, born 13 March 1914, in Porum, Muskogee County, Oklahoma. She was named after her mothers sister, Minnie Augusta Helton & her grandmother, Emma Augusta Boyles Helton. She never cared for the name Minnie, so she went by "Gussie" all her life. She was raised in Porum & Foyil Oklahoma, where she attend schools. She had one sister, Willie M. Andrews, two brothers, Cyrenaus W. & Gerald H. Andrews.
On 25 Feb. 1932, she married Lawrence E. Beck, in Pryor, Mays County, Oklahoma. He is the son of Wesley C. & Pearl S. Boswell Beck and was born 13 Mar. 1913 in Chelsea/Foyil Rogers, Oklahoma. After moving to Borger/Philips, Hutchinson County, Texas, where Lawrence work as a dispatcher in the Phillips Oil Refinery, her two sons were born, Edwin Dale on 12 April 1935 & Jerry Dan on 23 Mar. 1940. While living in Texas, she lost her mother, Susie May Helton Andrews, in 1935. Susie M. Helton Andrews is buried in Highland Park Cemetery, Borger Hutchinson,Texas.
After returning to Oklahoma, her and Lawrence divorced, then she and her sons moved to Chowchilla, Madera County, California, to her sisters. She worked in the Merced Hospital in Merced, Merced, California. She met Raymond H. Herriman while living in Chowchilla. He and his family farmed there, they also was from Porum, Oklahoma. Gussie & Ray know each other when they were kids in Porum, Oklahoma. They married and moved to Modesto, Stanislaus, County, California. On 08 Nov. 1945, their daughter, Susan Mae Herriman was born in the Robertson Hospital, on J St. in Modesto, California. Gussie & Ray worked for Tri-Valley Growers. Upon their retirement they sold their house to Gussie's niece, Diane Smith, bought a motor home and traveled, until about 1990. They sold their motor home, moved in a apt. in Modesto, where they lived out the rest of their lives. While traveling, they spent many happy years seeing this Nation and visiting with family and friends.
