Mary Ruth Lien Jamieson
Longtime Everett resident, Mary Ruth Jamieson passed peacefully May 6, 2013 at home. She was born on March 6, 1924 in her grandparents farm house in Goose Lake, Minnesota to Halvor Lien of Norway and Ruth Drinkall of Backus, Minnesota.
In 1933 the family moved to Washington state. In 1941 she met the boy next door and the love of her life, Floyd Robert Jamieson. They married on March 15, 1942. Mary and Floyd were blessed with seven children, Mary Leanne, Thomas Robert, Caroline Marie, Bruce William, Mary Patricia,
Marcia Celeste and Floyd Robert Thaddeus.
Mary's working life began at American Tugboat as a cook and deckhand. Her career path lead her to West Coast Telephone Company which became GTE. She began as a file clerk and retired as an executive secretary. Her job brought her cherished awards such as Secretary of the Year for the Northwest region. After she retired, Mary volunteered for several organizations including the American Cancer Society, the Snohomish County Historical Society and
Immaculate Conception Church where she attended church for more than 60 years. She kept current with technology sending weekly emails to family and kept in touch with friends through Facebook.
Mary leaves one son, three daughters, thirteen grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, and one great-great grand daughter.
Her husband, Floyd Robert Jamieson; a daughter, Mary Leanne; and two sons, Thomas Robert and Bruce William, preceded her in death.
Her funeral mass will be celebrated Tuesday, May 7, at 10:30 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, 25th and Hoyt, with a reception to follow. Pastor Bryan Hersey will officiate. Internment at Cypress Lawn.
