Ella was first married to Elvine Weston and then she married George Edward Collins. George was the younger brother of Ella's sister's husband, Edgar Depuy Collins. Edgar was married to Phoebe Canfield, who was eleven years younger than her sister, Ella Jane Canfield. Phoebe Collins died in 1907 and then Edgar married again.

Ella's two sons, whose father was Elvine Weston, took the name of their step-father, George Collins when they were older.
