Alice Piers Blackhurst was born on September 17, 1867 to William Carson Piers and his wife, the former Mary Jane Shurtleff, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. On September 11, 1889, she became my great-great-grandfather Harry Blackhurst's first wife. Their only child, Arthur Edward Blackhurst, was born on July 7, 1891, and sadly, Alice died the next day from an infection. The boy was taken in by Alice's parents, who adopted him and raised him to adulthood.
