SSGT US AIR FORCE∼Homer Edward Tyler, 79, passed away at his home in Schuyler, Virginia, Saturday, December 31, 2011, surrounded by his family following a brief battle with cancer.
Homer was born on November 12, 1932. He graduated from high school in Schuyler. He served in the United States Air Force from 1952 until 1956. He retired in 1987 from Sperry-Marine. He loved vegetable gardening, sharing the bounty with friends and family.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth, a brother and sister-in-law, Talmadge Tyler Jr. and Lily Tyler of Schuyler, Virginia; a brother, Robert Tyler of Mechanicsville, Virginia; a son, Albert Moreland Jr. of Schuyler; a daughter, Patricia Germelman of Glen Allen, Virginia; a daughter, Janet Watson of Glen Allen, Virginia; a niece, Connie Azumaya, her husband, Hiko and daughter, Caleigh; a niece, Amo Gunsallus and her daughter, Andrea; nephews, David and Bud Goff; two grandchildren, Leah Wood, her husband, Marc and Nathan Germelman; and two great- grandchildren, Olivia and Ty.
He was predeceased by his sister, Margaret Goff, her son, Patrick Goff and Robert Tyler.
A memorial service was held Saturday, January 7, 2012, at New Faith United Methodist Church in Schuyler, Virginia.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Richard Stewart for exceptional care and to Hospice of the Piedmont. With their care and direction, he was able to pass peacefully at the home where he was born.
