She was born May 17, 1926 in Kansas City, MO to Edward and Ethel (Wohlfahrt) Kelley. Marian was preceded in death by her father in 1943, her mother in 1962, a son, Kelley Lee Mathis, in 2005, a life partner, Raymond E. Smith in 1991, and five siblings – Lillian J. Kelley in 1936, Edward E. Kelley in 1969, Ethel L. Hartzell in 1994, Charles H. Kelley in 1999, and May A. Proper in 2011.
Marian traveled with Ray Smith throughout the U.S. in his construction line of work. They moved coast to coast and north to south. They loved the great outdoors and boating. They settled in Roswell, N.M. where she remained after the death of Ray and her son, Kelley, until poor health brought her back to Missouri.
She is survived by two grandchildren, Julie Scott and Scott (Nancy) Smith; four great grandchildren, Tyler and Karissa Scott and Marissa and Garret Brenton Of Port Huron, MI, three brothers, William C. (Thelma) Kelley of Eldon, MO, Arthur R. (Sharon) Kelley of Independence, MO and Earl A. Kelley of Olathe, KS; one sister, Lorene (Bud) Dickinson of Blue Springs, MO, and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held at the Eldon City Cemetery on October 8, 2013. Memorials are suggested to the Villa Marie Nursing Home, 1030 Edmonds St., Jefferson City, MO 65109
