Grace Exon passed away Wednesday morning, September 16, 1959 at Southwest Memorial Hospital in Cortez. Funeral services will be held Friday at the Methodist Church, with graveside services conducted by the Mesa Verde Chapter of the Eastern Star, weather permitting; interment in Cedar Grove Cemetery. She was 85 years old.
Grace Bauer was born Feb. 20, 1874 in Lincoln County, Kansas to Harry and Martha Jane Bauer. The next year the family moved to Iowa where George, her only brother was born. He passed away December 1957. The family moved to Mancos in 1888. Grace lived here her entire life. In 1891 she married Harry Rash, they had 2 sons, Charles of Dolores, Colorado and Harry (Jack) of Hollywood, California. In 1913 Grace married George Exon; they had one daughter, Abby Jane. Abby Jane married Herman Wagner. Grace is survived by her husband, 2 sons and daughter, 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; also 4 nephews John, Ralph, Wayne and Jim Bauer.
She was an active member of the Methodist Church, The Mesa Verde Chapter of Eastern Star, The Past Matrons of the Order of Eastern Star and a charter member of The Home Demonstration Club.
