Obituary for Dr. Raymond A. Kempf in the Daily Press, Utica, NY, Tuesday, May 21, 1957:

Dr. Raymond A. Kempf,
Prominent Native Utican
Dr. Raymond A. Kempf, 1706 Sherman Dr., died May 20, 1957, in his home after a brief illness.
Dr. Kempf was born in Utica, a son of Joseph C. and Rosanna Kempf. He was educated in Utica schools and graduated from Utica Free Academy. He received his medical degree from New York University and Bellevue Medical College.
In addition to his medical degree, Dr. Kempf received the University prize for attaining the highest standard in surgery in the final examinations. Although the youngest member of his class, Dr. Kempf was awarded this coveted honor, the highest prize of the University. Dr. Kempf was also awarded the appointment as house surgeon at Bellevue Hospital.
Returning to Utica, he opened offices here with his brother, Dr. Frederick M. Kempf and became one of the city's leading practitioners, serving as a member of the surgical staff of St. Elizabeth Hospital.
After the death of his father, Dr. Kempf devoted part of his time in the management of Kempf Bros. here with the aid of his brothers, Dr. Frederick M. Kempf and William J. Kempf. In 1923 William Kempf died and the two remaining brothers gave up the major part of their practice of medicine and surgery to devote most of their time to the management of Kempf Bros. and their real estate holdings.
Dr. Kempf was a member of the Oneida County Medical Society and an honorary member of the staff of St. Elizabeth Hospital. He was a parishioner of St. John's Church and a member of Council 189(?), Knights of Columbus, the Fort Schuyler Club and the Lake Placid Club.
Dr. Kempf is survived by his wife, Mary Cantwell Kempf, a daughter, Elisa Kempf and a son, Raymond A. Kempf.
Friends may call at his residence this evening from 7 to 9 and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.
