A native of New Paltz, he was the son of the late Ira and Maude Yeaple Decker and had lived in New Paltz most of his life. Prior to retiring six years ago, Mr. Decker was employed by the Town of New Paltz for 28 years and had served for six years as supervisor of the town highway department. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of the VFW and the Loyal Order of Moose, Newburgh.
Surviving are his wife, the former Virginia Peasley; three sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Martini, Tillson; Mrs. Nellie Safford and Mrs. Maude Clark, both of Kingston and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Pine Funeral Home, 124 Main St., New Paltz, with the Rev. David Maris, pastor of New Paltz Reformed Church, officiating. Burial will be in New Paltz Cemetery.
