Nelson T. Lambeth, 86, of Springfield, Mo., formerly of Jasper, passed from this earth to his heavenly home on May 17, 2005. He was born Dec. 5, 1918 in Sarcoxie, son of Tom and Lora (Whisner) Lambeth.
Nelson was a graduate of Sarcoxie High School and was a member of the First Christian Church, Carthage. He thoroughly enjoyed his career of 30 years as a rural mail carrier in Jasper, Rt. #3.
In 1985 he and his wife Audrey moved to Springfield in order to be closer to their children and grandchildren. He was an involved member of the Jasper community for many years, organizing and supporting activities involving the youth and community as a whole.
He was a former member of the Jasper School board, Jasper Chamber of Commerce and the Jasper Optimist Organization. He was a 50-year member of the rural mail carriers.
He loved sports, having coached American Legion baseball, refereeing and officiating and a bowling league in Carthage for several years. Nelson loved gardening and taking care of his tomatoes.
He was the proud grandfather of 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Nelson was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Gary Lynn Lambeth; a grandson, Jason Gregory Turner; and one brother, William Bill Lambeth.
His presence will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and neighbors, but his memory will live in our hearts forever.
