Alice V. Sheets, 89, of Lafayette, passed away Monday, April 29, 2013, surrounded by her entire family at her residence.
Alice was born May 4, 1923, in White County, to the now late John H. and Mary E. Connell Quigg. She graduated from Round Grove High School in 1941. On Jan. 27, 1946, she married Avery E. Sheets at the rectory at Berrydale. He survives. Alice was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church. She was active in Rosary Study Club, Legion of Mary, weekly adoration at St. Elizabeth Hospital Chapel and Right To Life.
Surviving along with her husband are their children, Lela (Don) Smith of Lafayette, Dwight (Joyce) Sheets of Lafayette, Deborah (Dave) Marendt of Greenwood, Bruce (Deborah) Sheets of Lafayette, Janice (Jeffery) Greener of Lafayette, Mark (Kevyn) Sheets of Irving, Texas, Monica (Craig) Alexander of Westfield, Rex (Janet) Sheets of Lafayette, Carmel (John) Brand of Lebanon, Kitrick (Debra) Sheets of Lafayette; a sister Elizabeth Lehe of West Lafayette; and 35 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren.
Alice was preceded in death by a grandson, Caleb Sheets; a great-granddaughter, Charlie Newton; and a sister, Mary C. Cain Kennedy.
Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. today, May 3, at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette. A funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday May 4, at St. Mary Cathedral, 1207 Columbia St., Lafayette, with Fr. Bob Klemme and Fr. Tim Kroeger coofficiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Tippecanoe County Mental Health Association or a charity of the donor's choice.
