He was married there to Hansine Hansen Aug. 12, 1891 and they lived on a farm eight miles north of Atlantic 30 years prior to moving to Atlantic in 1921. He had made his home in Elk Horn since March 1949. Mr. Laursen was a member of the Oak Hill Lutheran Church.

1889-courtesy of Burt A. Wittrup, El Paso, TX; My mother, Meta Laursen Wittrup, had several letters from Jorgen Laursen to her dad, Jens Peter Laursen, who emigrated to America in 1881.
Jan. 2, 1889, Jorgen to Jens Peter: "See in your last letter that you would like to get married. Can't see anything against that. Christian Hansen's daughter Stine has decided to make the trip to America next spring; someone said probably to join Jens Peter. She's a very capable girl. Can't go very far wrong, but that's just a suggestion."
March 27, 1889: Jorgen said this was a letter he had been dreading to write. Stine had died of typhus. "Followed her to the cemetery," earlier in the day he was writing the letter. "Nothing more to hope in that one, but there are others and could find one for you."
1891 Jens Peter then made a trip back to Denmark, in part to find a bride. He did find Hansine, who was a sister to Stine.
