MRS. PHOEBE B. EMMONS
SPENCER - Mrs. Phoebe B. Emmons, 93, a former resident of Spencer, died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 1975, at Heaton House, Montpelier, Vt.
Born in Horseheads, daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. Robert P. Bush, she married Henry L. Emmons of Spencer in 1905.
A 1902 graduate of Elmira college, where she majored in languages, she received her master's degree in library science at Geneseo State Teachers' College. She taught at various times in Spencer, Van Etten, Tioga Center, and Berkshire schools.
An active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Spencer for 70 years, she was the last of the Charter members of the Spencer Chapter, Order of Eastern Stars.
She had bequeathed her body to the School of Medicine at the University of Vermont.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Helen Spear, and a son, Robert Emmons; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the First Presbyterian Church, Spencer, with the Rev. Wayne Marx, the Rev. Gordon McKenzie, and the Rev. Thomas Lange, officiating.
