Was residing in Marcellus, MI when he enlisted in the Union Army on August 9, 1862 at Lockport, MI. Mustered in as a Sergeant, Company D, 25th Michigan Infantry on September 11, 1862 with two of his brothers-in-law (Gideon and Roswell Beebe), who also served in Company D. Died of disease on June 20, 1864 at Nashville, TN.
