Rich Allen, 79, died peacefully on April 27, 2013 in a local hospital. He grew up in Oakland, CA and graduated from Fremont High in 1951. He served as a Ranger in the army for 3 years and was a 50 year member of Local 1584 IAM. After working as a skilled Millwright for 33 years at Del Monte Can Corp. and 8 years at Tri-Valley Growers, Rich happily retired in 1996.
Rich will be remembered as a loving family man who enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He also developed many lifelong friendships while enjoying his various hobbies: golf, car shows, skin diving, camping, water skiing, boating and Christmas flocking parties.
You couldn't ask for a more wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather! He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Donna Gayle, two sons; James Lee Allen (Kathy), Jeffrey Hagar Allen (G. Bickel), three daughters; Pamela Joyce Allen, Patty Sue Way, and Kelly Lynne Woelfl (Al Carter), seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind two faithful dogs; Harley Davidson and Jack Daniels.
Services will be held at Graham-Hitch Mortuary, 4167 First St., Pleasanton, CA (925) 846-5624. Viewing: Wednesday, May 1st. from 5-8PM. Funeral: Thursday, May 2nd at 9:30-10:30AM. (Reception to follow 10:30-Noon). The interment will be at the Veterans National Cemetery, Gustine, CA at 2PM.
