CALDWELL— Services for George C. Shepard, 68, of 1117 Chicago Street, who died Friday night in a local hospital, will be conducted at Flahiff Chapel at 2:30 p. m. Tuesday. Lt. Donald G. Sather will officiate and interment will be at Hillcrest on Karcher Road. Mr. Shepard was a soldier of the Salvation Army since Oct. 29, 1939.
Born March 19, 1894, in Thayer, Kan., he was married Dec. 15, 1915, in Newkirk, Okla., to Ula Scott. The family came to the Sunny Slope community from Kansas in 1947 and he farmed before moving into Caldwell last October.
In addition to Mrs. Shepard, he is survived by four sons, Albert, Arkansas City, Kan., George, Jr., and Sherman T. Shepard, both of Caldwell, and Merle E. Shepard, Camp Pendleton, Calif; five daughters, Mrs. Opal Meeks and Mrs. Eunice Gray, both of Arkansas City, Mrs. Bessie Smith, Edmonds, Wash., Mrs. Esther Miller, Nampa and Mrs. June Stradley, Caldwell; three brothers, Harry, Ike and Harvey Shepard, all of Parsons, Kan.; a sister, Mrs. Lydia Blackburn, Parsons; 24 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Two children preceded him in death.
