Albert Joseph Gundy, 90, formerly of Conway, died Sunday, March 10, 2013, at Stratford Court of Palm Harbor, Florida.

Born January 14, 1923, in Hazelton PA, he was the son of the late Frank and Mary Gundy. He was a veteran of World War II, who served in both the Merchant Marines and the U.S. Army. He retired from Conrail Railroad as a cable splicer in 1983. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and a devoted Steeler fan. He was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Conway, for more than 50 years. He moved to Palm Harbor, Florida, in 2003, where he lived with his daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren. He loved to walk a few miles every morning and spent hours in the YMCA swimming pool.

Albert is survived by his daughter, Alberta Rupar and her husband, Ron; two grandchildren, Brian (Alexis Feldman) of Land O'Lakes, Florida and Andrea (William Wynn) of Scottsdale, Arizona; a great-grandson, Tucker Daniel Rupar; two brothers, John, Tarpon Springs, Florida and Frank, and sister, Dorothy, both of Hazelton, PA.

Albert was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Anna Gundy.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Conway, at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2013 with inurnment to follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Daugherty Twp. The family is being served by the POLAND FUNERAL HOME, INC., Conway. Memorial donations, may be made, if desired, to Suncoast Hospice Foundation, Palm Harbor, Florida.
