McCoy Mathis - 59

Of Homerville, GA passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2013. He was born on September 6, 1953 in Clinch County to Roy Vernon Mathis and to Virginia (Allen) Mathis Powell. Coy loved to beautify the land; he daily busied himself with preserving it. He was also fluent with the Spanish language. Coy visited Latin American countries many times and liked their culture.

He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Vernon Mathis and a nephew, Nathan Wilson.

His survivors include: Mother & Step-Father, Virginia & Bremon Powell of Homerville, GA; Sisters & Brother-in-Laws, Diane & Larry Chambless of Homerville, GA; Anita & Earl Strickland of Homerville, GA; Special Child, Liza Spivey of Nashville, GA; Nieces & Nephews, Travis Chambless, Julie Bennett, Ethan Strickland and several great Nieces & Nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM, Saturday, May 4, 2013 in the Lakeland Chapel of Music Funeral Services with burial to follow in Camp Creek Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, May 3, 2013 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Sympathy may be expressed online at musicfuneralservices.com.
