F. Carlton (Bud) Helm, 71, of Rt. 1, Hagerstown, died Thursday evening at his home. Born in Hagerstown, he was the son of Bruce M. and Nina Clopper Helm.

He was a member of the Christ Reformed Church and had sang with the church choir for 55 years. He was a retired Potomac Edison employe with 45 years of service. He was a charter member of the Appalachian Trail Club.

He is survived by his wife, Vivian McClain Helm; two sisters, Mrs. Charlotte Babcock of Hagerstown and Mrs. Lois Kirk of Winchester, Va.; and one brother, Robert B. Helm of Hagerstown.

Services were held at the Christ Reformed Church; burial was in Rest Haven Cemetery; arrangements were by the Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home.
