Mrs. Ella L. (Gregg) Fitzgerald, 80, a Gold Star mother and widow of Edmund T. Fitzgerald of 30 Second Street, died at Morton Hospital this morning after a short illness. Born in Taunton, daughter of the late William E. and Ellen M. (Fitzgerald) Gregg, she attended Taunton schools and was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church.
Her son was Sgt. Edmund T. Fitzgerald Jr., a member of the Air Corps who lost his life over England on Dec 23, 1944. He was a 1942 Coyle High School graduate and had enlisted in the Air Corps in Jul 1943. Her husband was a well-known plumbing contractor and was a World War One veteran. He was also a former commander of the American Legion Taunton Post 103.
Survivors include four grandsons, Edmund T., William A., Gregg R., and Bradley S. Fitzgerald, all of Taunton; a granddaughter, Julianne Fitzgerald of Taunton and a brother, William R. Gregg of Taunton.
